РђZERBAIJAN TO TURN INTO NETWORK OF MULTI-VECTOR TRANSPORT CORRIDORS

In future Azerbaijan will turn into the network of the multi-vector transport corridors, the National Secretary of Azerbaijan at the TRACECA Inter-governmental Commission Akif Mustafayev told Trend exclusively.

According to him, the implementation of the project on establishing the North-South transport corridor will not be the alternative for TRACECA, on the contrary, in future these corridors will supplement each other.

"Establishment of the North-South corridor is only a project. Considerable funds
are required for its realization. At the initial stage 5 million tons of freight a year is envisioned to transport through this corridor”, he noted.

Mustafayev also noted, the railway line Kars-Ahalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku, which construction is planned to be performed by Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan jointly, will be one of the TRACECA branches.

В"They cannot be separated from each other, as they are very significant in the communication link of Europe with Caucasus and the Central Asia”, he pointed out.

The Ministries of Transport of all these countries (all of them are TRACECA program members) carry out an intensive work in this respect.
