Politics Materials 10 August 2005 19:57 (UTC +04:00)

Human rights activists may leave the task force they are members of jointly with the state body representatives, a member of the working group, established in regard to the political prisoners issue, a human rights defender Chingiz Ganizade told Trend.

According to him, the working group members, representing the state bodies, delay the next meeting’s date. Meetings appointed for 22 June and later for early August were postponed each time.

Delegates, comprising the working group substantiated it by their preparations to the forthcoming parliamentary elections and signatures collection campaigning.

However, human rights defenders do not agree to these standpoints and find the reasons of the opposite side groundless. В"The signatures collecting campaigning is the process of only some days and the candidates are not
involved in it personally. Therefore, this is a groundless reason. Dragging out the time, red tape from the part of the opposite side are not understandable for us.

We, human rights activists, protesting against groundless delays of the meeting, state, in case the sitting will not be set for early next week, members of the Monitoring group of Human rights organizations will leave the working group”, Ganizade said. According to him, 8 human rights activists from 10, making up the task force have taken a decision on it.
