DATA ON INCOMES, PROPERTY OF SENIOR OFFICIALS MIGHT BE PUBLICIZED IN CASE OF REVEAL OF CRIMES

“Data on incomes and property of senior Azerbaijani officials will be publicized in case concrete crime are revealed,” the Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, a member of the Commission on corruption under the Administrative Council of the State Service, Ziyafat Asgarov.

The Azerbaijani legislation commits every state officer and senior official to present to the anti-corruption commission a declaration on incomes no later than 31 December 2005.

“Special forms will be prepared in this respect which will include annual income of a senior official, moveable and immovable property,” he noted. The data collected will be kept in secret as it a violation of constitution rights of citizens.

В"The world experience shows nothing extraordinary in it, the data could be publicized only in case there is a fact of law-break.

В"If a senior official knows the data he provided will be publicized, he will simply refuse from an unbiased approach to the issue,” the Vice Speaker underscored.

В"Such kind of information is secret throughout the world. All declarations will be preserved in the anti-corruption commission,В" Asgarov said. Data provided by the senior officials will be examined.

The same time vice Speaker said that the legislation bans the Azerbaijani citizens to publicize information on state property.

In the end Asgarov noted that the issue on allocation of a separate building to the anti-corruption commission was under discussion at the Cabinet of Ministers and it will be resolved by the end of the year.
