The work plan for the Azerbaijan’s Milli Mejlis (MM) autumn session has been discussed on 29 August 2005 by the parliamentary committee on the agrarian policy, Trend reports.

The committee’s chairman Eldar Ibragimov reported, the committee had worked fruitfully during the spring, as well as the MM unscheduled session and brought a number of drafts laws for a discussion by parliamentarians, which had been approved.

The committee plans to finalize development of draft laws “On phyto sanitation”, “On fish farm”, as well as the bill on introducing changes and supplements to the law “On seed farming”.

The last bill reflected such points, as growing of original seeds, selection of areas for their growing, tasks and rights of the seed-farming entities, international cooperation in seed-farming and other issues.

According to the report of Ibragimov, there is currently a necessity in 1200 tons of original and super-elite samples of seeds in the country. 20 seed farms function in the republic, of which half of them are private. Such seed farms, though hardly, but meet the demands in seeds.

However, the researches carried out show, there is a great demand in the state protection of the seed farms. Due to it, a number of changes are supposed to be introduced in certain draft laws. The necessity to render financial aid to seed farms, insuring them by the state and etc. are contained there.
