OSCE MINSK GROUP CO-CHAIRMEN APPRECIATE NEGOTIATIONS OF AZERI, ARMENIAN PRESIDENTS IN KAZAN

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen give a positive estimation to the next round of the direct negotiations between Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents in Kazan, Yuriy Merzlyakov, the Russian co-chairman at the OSCE Minsk Group, told Trend in an exclusive interview.

“The Presidents appreciated the meeting. They said that the meeting was held in the very constructive atmosphere. The co-chairmen also think highly of the meeting,” the diplomat added.

Touching upon the briefness of the sides after the negotiations, Merzlyakov said that there was an agreement that all details would be kept in confidence.

According to Merzlyakov, the current stage of the negotiations would be estimated during the next visit of Dmitri Rupel, the OSCE acting chairman, to the region.

The co-chairmen intend to know the opinion of the OSCE head and start the preparations for the next round of the consultations in the FMs’ level, which may be held from late September to early October. The next visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen to the region is not excluded till December.

Merzlyakov cast doubt on the opportunity of the meeting of the sides during the UN summit in New York city in mid September.
