MEETING OF PARLIAMENTS’ CHAIRMEN OF GUAM COUNTRIES TO TAKE PLACE IN NEW-YORK

The parliamentary delegation headed by the Milli Mejlis (MM) chairman Murtuz Aleskerov will leave for New-York on 6 September 2005 for taking part in the Second World Conference of the chairmen of parliaments at the UNO headquarters. The delegation consists of the head of the parliament’s administration Safa Mirzoyev, deputy chairman of the permanent committee on natural resources, energy and ecology Elton Mamedov, head of the foreign relations department Namig Aliyev and other officials, MM told Trend.

The parliament’s activities in international issues, multilateral cooperation, contribution of parliaments to democracy and other problems will be discussed at the event. Speaking of Murtuz Aleskerov at the conference is planned.

Meeting of the parliaments’ chairmen of the GUAM member states will be also held in the frames of the event. Exchange of opinions on turning GUAM into the international organization, roles of parliaments in conflict settlement, implementation of the framework program project between GUAM and the USA and on other matters will take place at the meeting. The final document will be adopted at the end.

The visit of the parliamentary delegation will finish on 11 September.
