“I DON’T UNDERSTAND OPTIMISM OF INTERNATIONAL REPs”, ISA GAMBAR

“I don’t understand the optimism of the representatives of the international organizations on the issues related to the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan,” Isa Gambar, the chairman of the opposition Muisavat Party, said to a conference on elections and democratic development on Monday, Trend reports.

“But, we are glad that the international community attaches great attention to the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan,” he noted.

In reply on the statement, Lord Russell Johnson, a PACE member, said that the PACE hoped in holding of fair elections.

“I can not speak about the elections beforehand, but even with bad legislation it is possible to hold fair, democratic and transparent elections. Azerbaijan has all chances to hold the elections up to the CE standards with the current legislation,В" Lord Russell Johnson added.
