CEC CHAIRMAN NOT BELIEVE IN IMPLEMENTATION OF VENETIA COMMISSION’S TWO RECOMMENDATIONS

Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of the Central Election Committee (CEC), does not believe in the implementation of the Venetia Commission’s (VC) last recommendations, Trend reports.

He was comment on the recommendations of the VC and some international organizations on necessity in change of structure of election committees and holding of the parliamentary elections with use of the finger marking system.

“Everything may happen, but I don’t believe in, as there are 2 month left until the parliamentary elections and any change during this period may be ridiculous and unusual. These are issues solving by the Parliament. I think that the Parliament will return to the issue of the elections anew,” Panahov underlined.

He noted that the CEC appreciated the VC recommendations. “Sufficient number of recommendations has been accepted so far. We have very good relations with the Venetia Commission and currently hold joint event i.e seminar for the CEC representatives,” he added. Panahov stressed that he did not believe that recommendations will be reconsider and regard their reconsideration as incorrect.
