Under the tour of the southern regions Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of the Heyder Aliyev, the Good-will Ambassador of UNESCO, visited the orphanages and boarding schools in Lankaran, Astara and Lerik. Aliyeva visited the Osman Mirzayev orphanage in Lankaran to get familiar with children’s problems here.
After the familiarity with the conditions in the orphanage, Aliyeva noted that the building was in need of renovation and announced the relevant work will start here at the expense of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation shortly.
Afterwards Aliyeva toured Shahlaser village and got familiar with the construction of a new school building implemented at the expense of the Foundation. Teachers, parents, pupils and builders met with the President of the Foundation, voiced their gratitude for charity activities and care and attention of children.
The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation got familiar with the construction of new school in Tangarud village of Astara District.
The builder promised Aliyeva that the construction will be complete by 1 October 2005. Aliyeva in her turn reminded as a sign of care and attention to children, the future of the nation, 132 schools were currently built in the country at expense of the Foundation under the program В"New Schools for Renewed Azerbaijan and the Fund developed a comprehensive program for the construction of 500schols in the country starting from 2006.
