CHAIRMAN OF CEC MET WITH FOREIGN SPECIALISTS WHO WILL HOLD EXIT-POLL

The chairman of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov met on 14 September with the director of the US Agency for International Development on Azerbaijan James Goggini, the structure’s consultant Liviya Mimichi, a specialist on projects management Parviz Musayev, the US Embassy official Paul Neriny and representatives of the PA Consulting Group, which will hold the exit-poll on 6 November, David Hoffman and Bob Baumgartner, CEC told Trend.

Panahov noted at the meeting, that holding of the exit-poll results from the Decree of the President Ilham Aliyev of 11 May 2005 В"On improvement of the election practice”.

A representative of the PA Consulting Group Bob Baumgartner noted, it is improper to compare the exit-poll and elections and stressed, it is only polling. He also noted,

constituencies and polling stations, as well as the voters will be defined by random selection. He noted, 65 constituencies will be selected and at 15 polling stations of each selected constituency the exit-poll will be held.

The company’s another representative David Hoffman noted, exit-poll are held based on 4 principles: anonymity, transparency, neutrality and professionally. He also noted, trainings will be held and programs for awareness of the electors will be carried out for those who will conduct exit-poll.

CEC chairman noted, it would be good if exit-poll cover all constituencies. Bob Baumgartner noted in his turn, holding of exit-poll at all constituencies is possible and they have enough resources for this.
