The grand event dedicated to the crossing of the Azerbaijan’s oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline the Georgian border to Turkey will be held on 12 October 2005 in Tbilisi, head of the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) and the Director General of BTC Co Natig Aliyev told journalists on 19 September, Trend reports.
According to him, the oil of the Azeri Light brand is currently transported through the pipeline towards the 2-nd pumping station in Georgia. “I think, it will be completely received at this station till 12 October and after certain testing will cross the border”, he indicated.
Touching upon the issue of the Azeri Light oil tanker shipment from Supsa to Ceyhan for testing the terminal, the SOCAR head noted, it took place on 8 September 2005.
The BTC oil is designed for pumping of 50 million tons of oil in a year. Shipment of the first tanker is expected in late 2005.
