PARLIAMENT DEMANDS TO CLARIFY REASONS FOR CRISIS IN CURRENCY MARKET

During the last three days the national economy experienced a serious blow due to the crisis at the currency market. A Milli Mejlis (MM) deputy Mais Safarli speaking out this idea demanded to take relevant measures on punishment of the crisis initiators.

Regretting, that the officials were not able to give any reasonable explanations to what happened, he marked the following. The arguments brought by them contradict each other. No economic crisis is expected in Azerbaijan, the economics develops at the required level. It seems, as if the crisis is created by someone artificially”.

The MM deputy urged the Speaker to take measures for investigation the case by the law-enforcement bodies.

MM deputy Shaitdin Aliyev noted, the National Bank chairman is to come to the Parliament and report on what happened. “And those who created crisis in the currency market must be held accountable “.

The MM deputy Alimammad Nuriyev proposed to form the commission from the deputies to investigate the event. “What happened, affects seriously the economic security. It is the threat to the country’s economy”, the deputy noted.

The Parliament’s Speaker Murtuz Aleskerov also voiced concern over the issue. “These events are unlikely to be casual. Therefore we are to investigate the matter and punish the guilty”.
