“DEMAND FOR UAZ CARS EXCEEDS SUPPLY,” KHANLAR FATIYEV

“Demand for the cars manufactured by the Ural Automobile Plant (UAZ) exceeds the production of the Ganja Automobile Plant (GAZ),” Khanlar Fatiyev, the director of the GAZ, told Trend in an exclusive interview.

According to Fatiyev, they have assembled and purchased 20 UAZ cars. “The cars are sold to both state organizations and private persons. Our main clients are Ecology and Natural resources Ministry and Azerenerji. We have received 57 sets of spare parts and expects 115 more,” he added.

The plant plans to put out from 350 to 400 cars till late 2005. “However, annual production may exceed the plan,” he underlined.

The Ganja Automobile Plant plans to assemble 14 different modifications of UAZ cars.

The GAZ signed an agreement with the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant in early May 2005.

Similar document was signed with the KAMAZ automobile plant, the cars of which are assembled at the GAZ.

The management of the plant holds similar negotiations with two Chinese companies.
