The meeting of the Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister General-Colonel Safar Abiyev with the deputy Commander of the US Armed Forces in Europe General Charles Wald took place in the framework of his visit to Sttutgart (Germany). During the meeting bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and the issues of cooperation of both countries in the framework of the “Cooperation in the name of Peace” NATO Program were discussed, the Defense Ministry told Trend.
В"Рђzerbaijan is an active partner of the USA in fighting terrorism. We want the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan to me mobile, strong and meet the NATO standards”, Wald said.
Abiyev, in his turn, told about the military and political situation in the South Caucasus and the current state of affairs of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. The Minister also voiced regret on dragging out the process of the complete cancellation of the 907-th Amendment, which does not enable to plan joint measures for over one year.
