AZERBAIJAN TO PRESENT ITS POSITION ON SAFETY OF CASPIAN BASIN

“Azerbaijan’s position on safety of the Caspian basin will be presented at international conference on energy safety in the Caspian region in Garmish-Partenkirkhen from 26 to 28 September,” Khalaf Khalafov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, told Trend.

It was planned that Azerbaijan would be represented at the conference by the delegation, leaded by Khalafov, but he did not manage to leave for Garmish-Partenkirkhen due to his busy schedule. The diplomat explained it with the forthcoming visits of the Finnish and

Latvian Presidents to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is represented at the conference by official delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the SOCAR and other appropriate state bodies.

According to Khalafov, the conference is of science-practical character and no political resolution is supposed to be made. The conference is organized by the Center of George Marshall. The conference will focus on ensuring of energy safety of the region at natural catastrophe, terrorist acts. The participants of the conference will report on their positions in this regard.

Attending the conference are official delegations from all Caspian countries, Georgia, Turkey, the United States, the UK, as well as representatives of the NATO, the U.S. European command and the U.S. State Department.
