“33 candidates to deputies were earlier convicted,” Vidadi Mahmudlu, the secretary of the Central Election Committee (CEC), told Trend. According to Mahmudlu, the figure was shown in the reply of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the inquiry of the CEC.
Mahmudlu refused to name them. He noted that the CEC was engaged in determination on the list and would appeal to courts with inquiries.
The reason for appeal of the CEC to appropriate bodies was balloting of the people earlier convicted for heavy crimes.
