RESULT OF MONITORING OF SATURDAY RALLY TO BE INCLUDED IN OSCE/ODIHR REPORT

Experts of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutes and Human Rights (ODIHR) held a monitoring of an unsanctioned rally of Azadlyg, a big opposition alliance, staged in Baku last Saturday (1 October), while the results of observation will be included in the subsequent report of the mission, Heidi Smith, a member of the OSCE/ODIHR mission from the UK, told Trend .

Smith noted that work over the development of a report continues, while the date of the publication of the document is still to be defined.

The OSCE/ODIHR observation mission comprises 30 long-term international experts from Belorus, Demark, France, Macedonia, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, Ukraine, and the United States.

The mission headed by Ambassador Geert-Hinrich Ahrens from Germany includes Harald Jepsen, of Denmark, Raphaelle Mathey, of France, Riccardo Chelleri, of Italy, Rasto Kuzel, of Slovakia, Edward Soden-Bird of the UK, Kerstin Dokter, of Germany, Heidi Smith, of the UK, Emil Pyrich, of Poland, Robert Lech, of Poland, and Malgosia Falecka, of Poland.

Besides, 500 short-term observers will arrive in Baku on the elections day and hold a briefing for media on 3 November.
