OFFICIAL VISIT OF LATVIAN PRESIDENT TO AZERBAIJAN FINISHED

A three-day official visit of the Latvian President Vayra Vike-Freiberga to Azerbaijan completed on 4 October 2005. She left for Georgia with a two-day official visit, Trend reports.

On the third of her visit Vayra Vike-Freiberga took part together with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the Azerbaijan-Latvian business-forum. Addressing the event, Vike-Freiberga voiced hope, that economic cooperation between the two countries will improve and the visit to Azerbaijan will give a new impetus to it.

The President of Latvia noted that arrival of such a large delegation of the high level Latvian businessmen witness of their great interest to the search of partners on cooperation in Azerbaijan. The president noted, one of the greatest financial groups of the Baltic states В"ParexВ" plans to operate in Azerbaijan. She also mentioned, there are representatives in the delegation of one of the largest in the northern countries and Europe companies of information technologies В"TietoEnatorВ" and the air company В"AirBalticВ", planning to launch the air line Riga-Baku.

On the same day the President of Latvia attended the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Sangachal Oil Terminal, made a stroll about Baku (in Icheri Scheher, the Inner City). At the Baku State University the ceremony of awarding Vike-Freiberga the title of the Honourable Doctor took place.
