AZERI PRESIDENT RECEIVES CIS EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, received Vladimir Rushaylo, the CIS Executive Secretary, on Wednesday.

Rushaylo said that main goal of the visit to Baku was to discuss implementation of decisions of the CIS Kazan Summit and hold exchange of opinions on economic integration. He stated that CIS observers would set to the monitoring of pre-election situation in Azerbaijan

on Thursday. Our main goal is to give objective appraisal to the elections, express our opinion on correspondence or un-correspondence of the elections with local legislation,” he added.

Aliyev mentioned importance of consultations on implementation of the decisions of the CIS Kazan Summit. He said that Azerbaijan desires to use multilateral opportunities of economic development within the CIS.

Touching upon the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the head of the country noted that observers would witness holding of the elections in compliance with the legislation.

“The preparations for the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are in high level. Existence of over 2000 candidates to deputies shows that people believe in fair, transparent and democratic elections. Equal conditions were established for every candidate,” he stressed.
