Рўurkey will support the European Union Neighborhood Policy in regard to the South Caucasus countries, a member of the Turkish parliamentary delegation to PACE, the head of the refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP)s committee Mevlit Chavushoglu told the Trend special correspondent in Strasbourg in the exclusive interview.

He also noted the program will affect positively the establishment of a long-term peace and stability in the region.

“Turkey does its utmost in this regard for establishing peace in the South Caucasus”, the parliamentarian noted, saying the target may be achieved only in case of liberating of the occupied by Armenia Azerbaijani territories and returning the refugees and IDPs to their homelands.

At the same time the parliamentarian noted the necessity of returning the Meshetian Turks to Georgia. According to him, Ankara insists on consideration of the issue on their state in Georgia in the Council of Europe.

В"We support efforts, aimed at establishing the European principles and development of democracy in the region”, the parliamentarian noted, saying that the program of the Neighborhood Policy will impact positively the economic development of the three countries.

Commenting on the statements on possible suspending of the EU program in regard to the three South-Caucasus Republics, the Turkish Parliamentarian noted, removal of any state from the European integration processes is a wrong position. В"It is more proper to reveal the existing problems and assist in their solution. One must bring the states together but not remove them”, he said, reminding, that PACE had frozen earlier relations with Belarus.

In conclusion the Turkish Parliamentarian touched upon the issue of the counter-action. They are different issues and I do not think the Greek Cyprus can do anything in this issue”, the parliamentarian noted.
