Politics Materials 7 October 2005 17:52 (UTC +04:00)

“The authorities will not hold a dialogue with the opposition working with Armenians and involved in political speculations under the pretence of dialogue,” MP Mubariz Gurbanli, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), told Trend .

Gurbanli noted that the leaders of Azadlig’ (Freedom) election bloc, speaking about dialogue, pursued other goals. “They come out with such statement to demonstrate themselves as peaceful forces. We have several dialogues, which did not solve any issue,” he stressed.

According to Gurbanli, the Azerbaijani opposition executes the instructions of some foreign forces. The idea of dialogue does not belong to them, but foreign forces.

On 5 October the U.S. State Department came out with an initiative to hold a dialogue between the authorities and the opposition, while on 6 October the Azadlig’ bloc expressed readiness to dialogue.
