Тurkmenistan is ready to carry on bilateral consultations with Azerbaijan on rapprochement of positions on the Caspian matter, the Turkmenistan president’s representative at the talks of the Caspian legal status definition Hoshgeldin Babayev told Trend on 7 October exclusively.

According to him, the sides maintain permanent contacts on the issue, however, the date for the next consultations is not defined yet, but there is hope it will happen shortly.

As for the position of Turkmenistan on the disputable fields on the Caspian Sea, according to him, the position of Turkmenistan here is “clear and based on the international law norms”, the diplomat noted.

It should be noted Turkmenistan claims for the “Kyapaz” oil field on the border of Azerbaijan with Turkmenistan and threatens Azerbaijan during some years by the international court.
