Over 10 journalists were subject to physical violence and hindered from covering the unauthorized rally on 9 October 2005 of the Azadlig block in Baku, the head of the joint monitoring group of the Interior Ministry and the Press Council Ibragim Mammadli told Trend.
According to him, according to the preliminary data, two journalists had severe injuries and were placed to the hospital’s resuscitation department. They are the editor-in-chief of the “Bozgurd” newspaper Ramiz Djafarli and the correspondent of the Ayna-Zerkalo newspaper Idrak Abbasov. On the whole, among those who suffered pressure and hard injuries were representatives of the TV and Radio companies В"LIDERВ", В"ANSВ", the newspaper В"Yeni Musavat”, В"РђzadligВ", В"Baki-habarВ", the APA information agency and other.
Mamedli noted, that the facts occurred will be thoroughly studied on 10 October and will be reported separately.
