In the illegal action of protest held on 9 October 2005 by the members of the Azadlig election block about 400 people were involved, the deputy head of the Baku City Chief Police Department Yashar Aliyev told Trend exclusively.
According to him, the violence has been endeavored in regard to the policemen from the action’s participants and 11 persons got various injuries. Aliyev declined the statement of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), reformists, chairman Ali Kerimli that the action’s participants wanted to hold peaceful march and did not seek confrontation.
Aliyev reported, during the unauthorized action 30 persons have been detained, the cases of 28 of them have been handed over to courts.
