The opening ceremony of the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline will take place on 12 October 2005 in Gardabani region of Georgia, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia Ramiz Hasanov told Trend exclusively.
Participation of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, ILham Aliyev, Georgia, Michail Saakashvili and Turkey, Ahmet Nedjat Sezer is supposed at the ceremony. The guests from the USA, the United Kingdom, particularly, the US President’s special envoy on the Caspian region Steven Mann, the BP head John Brown and other are expected.
According to the program, the high- ranking officials will address the ceremony followed by the commissioning of the BTC oil pipeline Georgian section with participation of presidents.
Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Georgia, according to the diplomat, will be short-tem. No other meetings or signing any documents is expected.
