113-TH ASSEMBLY OF INTER-PARLIAMENTARY UNION TO TAKE PLACE

The 113-th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will be held from 17 till 21 October 2005 in Geneva. The Azerbaijan’s Milli Mejlis (MM) deputies Gyulchohra Mammadova, Rizvan Djabiyev and the head of the Parliament’s administrative office international relations department Namik Aliyev will take part in the event, Trend reports.

According to Djabiyev, the responsibilities of the Parliament and the media in settlement of the armed conflicts, fighting terrorism, the role of the Parliament in development of democracy and other issues will be discussed at the event. After the sittings, the workshop on the subject “Cessation of any discrimination towards women” will be held on 20 October.

Djabiyev also noted the MM members will make reports, dedicated to the issues of Azerbaijan. There will be also exchange of views at the event staged jointly with UNO on female problems.
