NEXT SITTING OF AZERBAIJANI-AMERICAN TASK GROUP ON FIGHTING ILLEGAL ARMS, AMUNITIONS AND RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS COMPONENTS TRAFFICKING TO TAKE PLACE IN BAKU

The next sitting of the Azerbaijani-American task group on fighting the illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunitions and components for radioactive materials will take place in Baku from 19 to 21 October 2005, deputy head of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan Farhad Tagizade told the two-day conference on non-proliferation of mass destruction weapons at the Black and Caspian Seas opened on 12 October in Baku, Trend reports.

В"Рђzerbaijan attaches much significance to the bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the export control field”, Tagizade noted, reminding, one of the main components of the cooperation was the agreement of 28 September 1999 between the government of Azerbaijan and the USA “On cooperation in the field of counteraction to proliferation of the mass destructions weapons”.

The result of this agreement, as well as the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan and the US Defense Ministry became setting up of the task group headed by the State Border Service of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted, during the two-day conference officials of the frontier departments and the coastal guard services of Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Rumania, Turkey, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Bulgaria and the USA will take part.
