The arrest of the chairman of the Democratic Part of Azerbaijan (DPA), former Speaker Rasul Guliyev will be a political mistake by the country’s authorities, the chairman of the Musavat oppositional party, a part of the Azadlig election block Isa Gambar told journalists on 15 October, Trend reports.
Gambar reminded, the decision on holding the event on the occasion of the DPA leader arrival at the Baku international airport has been taken, noting, the representatives of the authorities should not make attempts to arrest Guliyev. The ruling circles should understand they will aggravate the situation by doing this”, Gambar said.
The decision to arrest Rasul Guliyev, residing in the USA as a political emigrant was taken on 10 October 2000 by Sabail district court of Baku. Guliyev himself stated that he will return to Baku on Monday on 17 October by the British Airways flight.
