Ex-Speaker Rasul Guliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP), got on the airliner in London at 12:00 to arrive in Baku, Sardar Jalaloglu, the vice-chairman of the ADP, said quoting Guliyev.

Jalaloglu said that he had a telephone talk with the party leader before he got on the airbus at London Airport. The airliner is expected to land in Baku at about 16.00.

According to Jalaloglu, no one can arrest Guliyev, who holds an immunity status and the government do not have any fact to arrest him. The ADP functionary underlined that the Criminal and Elections Codes of Azerbaijan and Article 149 of the Constitution testify for illegality of Guliyev’s arrest.

In turn the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, which is part to the Azerbaijan Air Lines (AZAL) state company told Trend that no charter flight via London-Baku route was scheduled for Monday at the Heydar Aliyev airport.

"For the time being we do not have information on such flights. In this direction we have a regular flight, which envisages take-off of the airliner from London at 21:00 and landing on Tuesday morning,” the same source said.

The Baku office of British Mediterranean Airways also did not assert the fact of charter flight, stating that no flight had been scheduled for the London-Baku route. The regular flight by British Mediterranean Airways has been scheduled for 14:00 [London time] and the airliner is expected to land in Baku at 23:30pm.

Meanwhile, Sabir Ilyasov, the vice-chairman of AZAL State Company, told Trend that on Monday the company was not implementing charter flights. “We do not have any difficulty in the air flights in respect to Rasul Guliyev’s scheduled visit to Azerbaijan. We do not carry out any action and the flights are implemented in ordinary regime. The law-enforcement bodies can freely carry out necessary exams and take different measures. AZAL has nothing to do with such actions,” Ilyasov underscored.
