Akif Muradverdiyev and Fikrat Sadikhov involved in attempts to commit coup d’etat

The investigation bodies revealed that Akif Muradverdiyev, the former head of the President’s Office, and Fikrat Sadikhov, the former head of Azerkimya State Enterprise, involved in the criminal plans on coup d’etat of ex-speaker Rasul Guliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, Ali Insanbov, the Ex-Minister of Health, Farhad Aliyev , the Ex-Minister of Economic Development, and Fikrat Yusifov, the Ex-Minister of Finance, along with appropriation of state property, abuse of authorities, the joint message of the the Ministry of National Safety, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General spread on Tuesday.

The investigation revealed that Yusifov had several meetings with Sadikhov at the instruction of Guliyev to receive money. Sadikhov gave $10,000 to Yusifov through his driver on 16 October 2005. Sadikhov acknowledged that he transmit $30,000 to Yusifov from 2001.

During the investigation Muradverdiyev appealed to the Prosecutor Office to publicize the facts on the coup d’etat. Muradverdiyev noted that he met with Aliyev in the cabinet of the latter to discuss speeding-up actions against the acting power.

Nasimy district court made a sentence on arrest of Muradverdiyev on 24 October. The investigation bodies found $32.700, 14,000 euros, 9,100 pound sterling during the search held in his flat.

Besides, Najafgulu Guliyev, the chairman of the Shurabad municipality, Khizi region, earlier served his term, was detained at suspicion of involvement in the actions against the government.

He reported that Hassanov and Muradverdiyev met in the cottages located in the territory of the Gizilhalmas village, Khizi region. According to N.Guliyev, he witnessed their conversations about access to the power by force. He stressed some times Sadigov and other people participated in the meetings.

The investigation revealed that R.Guliyev had a telephone conversation with Sabir Bakhshaliyev, working at Azerneftyag plant managed by R.Guliyev in 1980s to give instructions to hinder his arrest at the airport.

Bakhshaliyev collected data on the measures taken by the police on 17 October 2005.

He met with Ilgar Rahimzade, the chief of the Nasimy district Police Department in this regard.

Rahimzade and Bakhshaliyev were made answerable as suspect and arrested at the court sentence. Investigation is underway.
