Rino Harnish, the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, paid a 2-day visit to Ganja from 26 to 27 October. The goal of the visit is to study the pre-election situation in the region and participate in the opening ceremony of the hostel at boarding school 1. The Ambassador met with the candidate registered in the second Nizamy constituency 38, Ganja, at the regional office of the Assistance Fund on Wednesday.

The Ambassador said that the presidential decrees were important step on the way to democracy. He voiced hope that the parliamentary elections would be transparent. “The presidential decrees testify for it. The authorities state that the current parliamentary elections will be more democratic as compare the last one. The future of Azerbaijan depends on this factor,” Harnish stressed.

Touching upon holding of exit poll, the Ambassador underlined that it would be mentioned by the authoritative organization. The results of the exit poll to be held in 64 constituencies will be publicized 2 hours before the publication of official results. “If the exit poll shows that some candidate has gained 500 votes, but the CEC announces that he possesses 5000, we will suppose that there is falsification. But the U.S. government will take into consideration the final counting by the CE Office on Human Rights,” he added.
