European Union wants to see Azerbaijan as successful participant of “New Neighborhood Policy”

We want Azerbaijan to be involved and be one of the most successful participants of the “New Neighborhood Policy” program by the European Union, a special representative of the British Foreign Ministry on South Caucasus Brian Fall stated at the news conference on 28 October 2005 in Baku, Trend reports.

According to him, the issues of further implementation of this program were discussed during the EU-trio mission to Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. He noted, implementation of the program is not frozen, however “we are not able to start negotiations as soon as we would like it”.

В"Nobody will be left behind the train”, Fall said, touching upon the issues on possible individual joining the “New Neighborhood Policy” program of the South Caucasus states.

These countries will join the program jointly with various weights and with the different speed”, he stressed.

The special representative said, “it would have been better” no air communication opening between Azerbaijan and the Northern Cyprus and stressed there are no other errors in the Azerbaijan’s actions except for this”.

He also said, EU would like to ask Nicosia what in future may trouble it in this respect”.

Speaking on the results of his visit to Baku, Fall reported on the useful meetings with the President, the Ministers of Economic Development, Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, Defense Minister. Implementation of the “New Neighborhood Policy”, the action program between Azerbaijan and EU, preparations for the forthcoming elections have been discussed.
