WTO to define Azerbaijan’s new membership fee

The World Tourist Organization (WTO) will define a new amount of the Azerbaijan’s membership fee to the organization, the head of the press service of the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism Ragif Aliyev told Trend.

According to him, the issue will be solved within the WTO 16-th session to be held from 29 November to 2 December in the Senegal capital city Dakar, in the work of which the Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev takes part. As Aliyev says, the amount of the Azerbaijan’s membership fee in 2005 was $18,000. As the Ministry’s official spokesman noted, the size of the fee is determined by the statistics of the tourists coming to the country and the amount of money entering the sate budget from this sum. In 2004 the number of tourists who visited Azerbaijan was 1.350.000 people, in 2005 this figure will be at least 1,5 million people and respectively, the size of the fee is to correspond to this statistics, he noted.
