Azerbaijani Schools to be Provided with Computers by End of 2007

Azerbaijan, Barda / Trend corr. S.Jaliloglu / The Azerbaijani Education Ministry will implement a range of projects to supply secondary schools with computers. "All Azerbaijani schools will be provided with computers and connected to the internet by the end of 2007," Misir Mardadov, the Azerbaijani Education Minister said in an interview with journalists in the Yevlakh region of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan passed the state program to provide schools in Azerbaijan with upgraded technology. Under the state program about 4,521 schools will be provided with computers and connected to the internet. There are plans to complete the program by the end of the year.

The program envisages the appointment of new teachers in information technology. There are a lot of teachers in Azerbaijan which contradicts remote regions which suffer a shortage of teachers.
