Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.17 / Trend , F.Huseynli /

The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) First Vice president urged football referees to be fair.

"AFFA takes its utmost to develop football, pays attention to holding the championships, and controls games. If we really want to develop football in Azerbaijan, we must remove the deficiencies. Regardless of which team's game is being judged, the referees should be fair. Today no one can use police surveillance in football," AFFA First Vice president MP Rauf Aliyev told Trend yesterday.

Two referees Babak Guliyev and Anar Niyazov were suspended earlier after fixing the results of a match with two clubs during Unibank Premier League 2009-2010.

According to Aliyev, workshops are held to improve the professionalism of referees twice a year.

"A special commission was established by the AFFA president for permanent control over this situation. They are people whose decisions we can't press. Fair control of the game mostly depends on the clubs and the referees," Aliyev said. "It is really a very bad case if two teams agree between each other and with the referee on the result of the game."

With regard to identifying those facts Aliyev that even if the agreement occurs, then it must be confirmed.

"If AFFA accuse the two teams in a previous agreement on the results of the game, it will be evaluated as a slander. If we want to develop our football, we must desire it by heart and be ready for that. Otherwise, the contractual games will prevent the development of our strong teams and they will not be able to represent Azerbaijan in the international arena," Aliyev said.

According to Aliyev, with regard to compliance of the principle of justice by the referees, no one should interfere in the work of the disciplinary committee.

"This committee has chairman, deputy chairs, and office and they must control and work to remove deficiencies. They appealed for time to train young referees. We have supported this process. The committee should act in accordance with its conscience," Aliyev underscored.
