Azerbaijan lacks lawyers, Legislation and Legal Expertise Department head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Shahin Aliyev told journalists.
"There are problems associated with the insufficient number of lawyers in Azerbaijan," Aliyev said. "But the country is taking practical steps in this regard."
Currently, around 800 lawyers work in Azerbaijan. The country holds one of the last positions among European countries for this indicator.
There are only five lawyers per 100,000 people in Azerbaijan, German expert Thomas German told media earlier.
The Azerbaijani Bar Association is holding admission to the bar on a competitive basis to solve this problem, Aliyev added.
