Last Sunday the first Azerbaijan-Canada scientific conference, which was devoted to the protection of public interests, was held in Canadian Toronto. The conference was organized by the Azerbaijani embassy in this country jointly with the Azerbaijan-America Council and the Association of University of Toronto Azerbaijani students, the Azerbaijani embassy reported on Monday.
The Azerbaijani ambassador in Canada Farid Shafiyev made a statement at the event in which he mentioned the works of Azerbaijani Diaspora. The ambassador noted the significance of the establishment of coordination mechanism among organizations for the increase of Diaspora's activity. Shafiyev underlined that the protection of the interests of Azerbaijan abroad is an important duty of every Azerbaijani citizen. He noted the importance of the fulfillment of the relevant works in propaganda and agitation spheres by the Diaspora's representatives, especially Azerbaijani students studying in this country, together with Canadian politicians and public figures.
As the main speaker an Ontario's parliament MP Reza Moridi appealed to all participants. A representative of a Jewish organization who took part at the first Azerbaijan-Canada scientific conference shared with his working experience in the spheres of formation and coordination of the Diaspora's activity.
Having taken part at the conference the chairman of Azerbaijan-America Council Javid Huseynov, the chairman of the Assembly of Azerbaijan-Canada organizations Yashar Mugan, a member of the Association of University of Toronto Azerbaijani students Iskander Gadirzade informed participants about works fulfilled by Azerbaijani Diaspora in the area of dissemination of propaganda and agitation information about Azerbaijan.
