The presentation of the book, "Goris-2010: Season of the Theater of the Absurd," by philosopher and academic, Presidential Administration head Ramiz Mehdiyev, was held today at the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

"The broad audience reading "Goris-2010: Season of the Theater of the Absurd" will see that the statements made by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Goris are unthinkable lies and falsifications," ANAS President Mahmud Karimov said at the presentation.

In his recent article of the same title, Mehdiyev responds to Sargsyan's recent disclosure of "new discoveries" using irrefutable historical facts, Karimov said.

Mehdiyev's article was republished by the East-West Publishing House as a book containing additional materials. The book cites myriad historical and factual sources and maps from the ancient and contemporary periods. This increases the scientific value of the book as a reliable source for readers, Karimov stressed.

According to the ANAS president, the book offers evidence that the Armenian people are alien not only to the South Caucasus, but rather to all of Asia Minor.

Karimov noted that the book highlights the scientific methods used by Armenia to rename places bearing Azerbaijani names.

"The book states that the area where present-day Armenia is located was once Azerbaijan's," he said.

ANAS History Institute Director Yagub Mahmudov said the work is a new beginning in the fight against the Armenian propaganda. He noted that work is underway to translate the book into both English and Russian.

Meanwhile, ANAS Oriental Studies Institute Director Govhar Bakhshaliyeva said Mehdiyev's book is rich with references to reliable historical sources.

Mehdiyev's book is of vital importance not only in terms of its response to Armenian duplicity, but also in terms of the author's reflections on historical facts, his analysis of the causes and consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and his insight into the political processes taking place in the region over the past 200 years.

The book is a must-read for political scientists and Caucasus scholars, and, in particular, conflict experts in different regions of the world. The work refers to numerous scientific sources - from Herodotus to Strabon - and also intimately acquaints readers with the OSCE Minsk Group.

Mehdiyev noted that Sargsyan, who legitimacy as a president is currently being questioned even by the Armenian public, made harsh statements at the Goris Theater, which reflect his low level of personal culture and education.

Mehdiyev rightly sees similarities between Sargsyan's duplicitous statements and the statements the leaders of the Third Reich. Drawing a parallel, he writes that 70 years ago, similar statements were made of the superiority of the Aryan race by German scientists and the leader of the Third Reich. Everyone knows that talks about the superiority of one nation over another lead to grave misfortune, he writes. Unfortunately, the leaders of today's Armenia are taking their people in the same disastrous direction and have not learned their lesson from recent history, Mehdiyev concludes.
