Today the Sabunchi district organization of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) hosted a meeting of women MPs with the members of the NAP Women Council.

Today, Azerbaijani women conduct activities in various fields, said the chairperson of the Women Council Nurlana Aliyeva. "Regardless of their profession, Azerbaijani women must pursue the same goal - to serve the development of society and state."

According to her, today, the members of the NAP Women Council, created in 1995, are a fighting army.

A total of 20 women, including 13 representatives of the ruling party, gained seats at the Azerbaijan Parliament as a result of parliamentary election conducted on Nov. 7.  

In Azerbaijan, women MPs could adequately cope with their duties, a member of the NAP Women Council, deputy speaker of Parliament Bahar Muradova said during her speech. According to her, women MPs played an important role in establishing and developing relations with various international organizations.

Chairperson of State Committee for Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova in her speech expressed hope that women MPs will contribute to the country's democratic development. Huseynova said that to maintain their credibility, women should increase their efforts.

The women are responsible for the improvement of morals, the youth, said the chairperson of the parliamentary committee on human rights Rabiyat Aslanova. "Women have to push public opinion to the forefront," said Aslanova.
