ANAS President: Young scientists studying abroad should have incentive to return to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 24 / Trend K.Zarbaliyeva /

The young scientists, who receive education abroad, should have an incentive to return home, President of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Mahmud Karimov told journalists.

Karimov named favorable working conditions and high salary as such incentives.

"In-depth conditions must be created for them. When returning to Azerbaijan, they should be confident of continuing their activities and receiving higher wages," he said.

He said Azerbaijan needs to adopt special programs in this area, as this practice is already available in some countries.

There were signed agreements with some scientists sent to the foreign countries for education under the state program. The agreements reflect an important condition which is to return to their homeland, Karimov said.

The Science Development Foundation may allocate grants to implement the projects of young scientists, who have returned to their homeland, he added.

Karimov also did not rule out the possibility of adopting the program by the ANAS to support scientists educated abroad. Karimov expressed confidence in their return and the continuation of scientific activities for the benefit of the Azerbaijani people.

Earlier, Education Minister Misir Mardanov called on students and graduates of foreign schools to return home to apply the gained knowledge into practice in Azerbaijan.
