Azerbaijan has prepared proposals aimed at removing the most common offenses in the municipalities' activities, head of anti-Corruption department under the General Prosecutor Kamran Aliyev said at a conference entitled 'Fight against corruption in Azerbaijan: achievements and prospects'.
He said the General Prosecutor's Office have carefully studied appeals concerning the activities of local authorities and identified the most common offenses and the circumstances favouring them. Based on this analysis a number of proposals aimed at their elimination and prevention have been prepared. In order to take preventive measures, these proposals have been forwarded to the appropriate authorities, which should also express their attitude to them.
Prosecutor General's Office also investigated violations of regulatory requirements and the implementation of works not meeting standards during the construction of several schools in Baku, he said.
He also noted after the investigations the Ministry of Education was informed about the conduct of effective measures for the immediate elimination of violations and prevent similar incidents in the future.
At the same time, concrete proposals for improving work in this area and the prevention of corruption offenses have been prepared.
Mr Aliyev said proposals prepared in connection with these issues will soon be presented to the public.
