Acting president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan has been appointed, the Institute of Geology told Trend.
A meeting of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences on this issue was held on Tuesday.
The decision of the Presidium appointed the director of the Institute of Geology, vice-president of the ANAS Akif Alizade as the acting president.
The 65 year old President of the ANAS Mahmud Karimov died of a sudden heart attack on February 10.
