The Silk Road countries accelerated their efforts to introduce an analogue to the Schengen Visa - a single simplified visa system, head of the program on the Silk Road of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Alla Peresolova told the media in Baku today.

She added that UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai advocates for the introduction of such a visa.

"It is unknown when the introduction of the visa system will be," he said. "Negotiations are underway."

As a result of examining the economic benefit after the introduction of a single simplified visa system for the Silk Road countries, the conclusion was made that the introduction of a simplified visa system will increase the flow of tourists to the region and have an impact on the development of the tourism industry.
