Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to the development of gymnastics in the world, Vice-President of the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG), General Secretary of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), Farid Gaibov said on June 12 in Baku, at a press conference on the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championship.

The Jubilee Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championship will be held in the national gymnastics arena in Baku on June 13-15. Some 258 gymnasts from 33 world's countries will compete for the nine sets of awards.

"Our federation has been headed by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva since late 2002," Gaibov said, who joined the UEG Board in 2008. "The activity of the federation has intensified since then. Our representative Mehman Aliyev is a member of the committee of this organization, while Ayla Ahmadova represents acrobatic gymnastics in the international federation."

"Of course, we will try to contribute to the development of gymnastics not only in Azerbaijan, but worldwide in the future."

Gaibov also said that Azerbaijan is represented by the international class referees in all six gymnastics disciplines.
