Baku will, for the first time ever, host a science festival in November this year to increase the Azerbaijani youth's interest in science, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Akif Alizadeh said Oct. 3.

He made the remarks at the roundtable meeting titled "Converging Technologies and Outlines of the Future: Landmark Challenges of the 21st Century", held as part of the 4th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

Alizadeh said the festival organized by ANAS, Azerbaijani ministries of education, communications and high technologies and others authorities, will be held in Baku on Nov. 10-11.

"This decision has already been made, and we are conducting the preparatory work," he said.

The ANAS president said the science festival in Baku will be Azerbaijan's first experience in holding such events, so it was decided that this year the festival will cover only Baku.

"If it proves to be effective, then in the long term such a festival will be held at the level of the entire country," Alizadeh added.
