Baku 2015 European Games can today announce that Azerbaijan's biggest ever volunteer programme will be sponsored by Nar Mobile.

As part of the deal, Nar Mobile will display extensive in-store promotion across their 140 stores in Azerbaijan and eight flagship stores in Baku.

Nar Mobile, who are an Official Partner of Baku 2015, will also create an innovative new mobile application that will allow the 12,000 volunteers to keep up to date with all the latest European Games news.

"The Baku 2015 volunteer programme is a major opportunity for the young people in Azerbaijan to be a part of the inaugural European Games," Mr Simon Clegg, Chief Operating Officer of Baku 2015, said.

"It is fantastic to know that we now have the full support of Nar Mobile in helping to recruit and train our volunteers. Their ability to connect with the young people of Azerbaijan will prove invaluable as we continue to count down the days to the European Games."

With 58 per cent of the population under the age of 34, Azerbaijan's current young generation will play an important role in shaping the country's future and benefit from the Baku 2015 legacy.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to fill vital Games-time roles that include welcoming dignitaries and athletes, working at sporting events or providing assistance to members of the media.

"The European Games will be a wonderful event and we are very proud to be supporting Baku 2015 through partnership with their volunteer programme," Mr Kent McNeley, Chief Executive Officer of Nar Mobile, said.

"Thanks to our advanced technical capability and strong relationship with the youth of Azerbaijan, we are in a good position to assist with the development of the volunteers and ensure a positive lasting legacy for the country."

Nar Mobile will also promote Baku 2015 through their social media channels, text messaging and a number of newly-created short films to engage with volunteers.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place from 12 - 28 June 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Eleven of the sports will offer qualification opportunities for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Those sports include Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Cycling, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Wrestling and Volleyball.

Baku was awarded the Games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012. The Baku European Games Operations Committee (BEGOC) will organise and run the Games in co-operation with the EOC.
