Azerbaijan, Iran mull prospects for development of cultural relations (PHOTO)

Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Abulfas Garayev met with Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Iran intergovernmental commission on cooperation in economic, trade and humanitarian spheres Mahmoud Vaezi, Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Trend on Nov.7.
Mahmoud Vaezi is on an official visit to Baku.

After welcoming the Iranian minister, Garayev stressed the importance of developing relations between the two friendly countries.

He said the spiritual and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are the basis of relationships between the two countries in other spheres as well.

Garayev added that Iran will host the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in 2015.

Vaezi, for his part, emphasized the significance of developing the cultural relations between the two countries and said that holding of the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan and Iran is of great importance in this sphere.

He said a number of documents will be signed during the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Azerbaijan on Nov.12, adding that these documents will contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.

Iranian minister also emphasized the importance of visa facilitation between the two countries for the development of tourism. Vaezi said the increase in the number of direct flights from Azerbaijan to a number of Iranian cities also promotes the development of relations.

During the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan and Iran successfully cooperate in a number of international organizations and support each other in the implementation of various projects.

Moreover, the examples of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and Iran have been inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of intensifying the mutual high-level visits to further develop the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.
