The new head coach of the Azerbaijani national soccer (football) team Robert Prosinecki was given a specific task, the President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters Dec. 3.
He said that holding major sporting events in Azerbaijan is the greatest goal of the country's president.
"If we can participate in Euro 2020, the team's two matches will be held here," Abdullayev said.
Earlier AFFA approved the Croatian football manager Robert Prosinecki as the head coach of the national soccer team of Azerbaijan.
The decision to approve Prosinecki as the head coach was taken Dec. 3 by the AFFA Executive Committee. A three-year contract was signed with him.
The AFFA Executive Committee Member Iskandar Javadov told reporters Dec. 3 that Prosinecki will be paid 1.2 million euros per year.
