The Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan's Justice Ministry has completed the execution of the pardon order signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Dec.29, Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service told Trend on Dec.30.
All the pardoned prisoners were released by 15:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours) Dec.30.
Under the order, signed Dec. 29, 87 people, including a Turkish citizen were pardoned. Among those pardoned there are two women.
Some 79 people, sentenced to imprisonment, were pardoned, three people were exempt from correctional work, and five people were exempt from the penalty of a fine.
Among those pardoned there are two members of the Nida movement - Uzeyir Mammadli and Zaur Gurbanli, journalists - Avaz Zeynalov and Sardar Aliyev, and a lawyer Gurban Mammadov.
