Moscow will host the presentation of the Baku 2015 European Games, Azerbaijan's Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov said in Moscow Feb. 14.

He made the remarks at a press conference dedicated to the Baku 2015 European Games, Trend's special correspondent reported.

Rahimov said the presentation will take place as part of the Week of Azerbaijan.

The minister said the organizing committee of the first ever European games chose students as the volunteers in the event.

He said 150,000 students answered questions in a questionnaire, including, the question whether or not this event is interesting for them, and which kinds of sports attract them.

"Over 20,000 students expressed a desire to work at the games. They will be in two groups. One group is a coordination group, while the second one will include those who will take part in the opening and closing of the games. Each of the groups has its own centers, where they are trained," he said.

The minister said a registration is open for journalists who will cover the first European games, and a media village will be prepared for them. The food supply question has been solved as well.

Rahimov said Azerbaijan has certain statistics on the results of the Olympic Games.

"I don't want to think ahead, but there are benchmarks, which we will measure by, Judo, taekwondo, boxing, rowing, and gymnastics - these are the main sports where we expect rewards," he said.

The minister said Azerbaijan held consultations with the European Olympic Committees (EOC).

"Naturally, we are interested in beach soccer, as the country has a lot of good beaches. We hope a momentum will be given to the development of this sport in the country," he said.

The minister added that aside from Moscow, Azerbaijan also plans to hold presentations of the first ever European games in Rome and London.

Speaking about the construction of a football stadium in Baku, the minister noted that the capital needs such an arena, since a stadium of this kind was last built in 1953.

He said aside from that, a number of sports facilities, to be used during the games, are being constructed and reconstructed.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
